Nokia 5800 dead after trying to update firmware

Hi, I bought a 5800 and was connecting it to my nokia pc suite, it said the firmware needed updated. As it did this it said it had failed. It said to disconnect my 5800 and takeout the battery and restart. After this when I tryed to switch it on it vibrated as normal but no screen just black. I took it to a phone shop and they said I fryed the board in the phone Can this be true?? I paid them to fix it and got it back even though I was a bit suspicious I was just glad to have it working. After getting it home the excat same thing has happened. Please help!!! Should I try and re flash it using phoenix? Or could I really have fryed my phone?
