Hi all, this will be my first post here.

Anyone else having problems with the camera? When i take a picture with flash, the camera-app freezes into a blackscreen, sometimes after the flash have gone berserk for a while. After the blackscreen, i can force the camera-app to shutdown, but then I have to restart the phone to be able to start the camera-app again. EVERYTIME i take a photo with flash.

Also, Im no Symbian-expert, so could someone please explain this to me?;

Software version: 1218_9500_R1CA037
Software version date: 29-11-09"
Custom version: 1224_3807_R1BA028
Custom version date: 29-11-09

Why does both "Software version" and "Custom version" have the same date, but different versions? And is "software version" the version which was shipped with my phone, and custom version the version in the phone right now?

My phone has been through SE Update service a few times, so it should have the 'latest' software.

Btw, does anyone know if there is a new firmware coming anytime soon?

hi im no expert either but i would say its a hardware problem. send it back to SE. there were alot of freezing problems before the new firmware came out however most were fixed with the update. yours sounds more of a hardware problem. also try another forum especially for SE which is You are not allowed to view links.

Hello,
Had the same gps problem. No gps fix, and in the application "location", it kept saying "no connection".
It's hard to know what's happening, because it sometimes worked for a few seconds.
(I was also confused because i had my location in google maps. but it seems google maps can uses the gsm signal alone to locate you, without the gps signal.)
Have you tried to install sygic or ndrive? i think i had the problem after that.

Anyway, the only solution I found was to hard reset my phone. You lose all your data, so backup.
I then installed a minimum number of application (helloox2, ovi store, ovi maps, level, gmail, opera mini, and device info).
Now the gps fixes almost every time.

hope it helps

The next software update for Satio is now just around the corner. Timing on the update is however different for different markets and operator branded versions. The first ones should start to come up this weekend and then continue over the coming week. However it might differ slightly between markets as some kits might need approval from operators and can therefore take some more time, still I would expect most versions of Satio to have the new software available in latest a few weeks from now.

The update will be available through the Update Service client found at You are not allowed to view links.

A software update is important from many perspectives, of course it should rectify some issues, optimize performance even further etc but for this case I’m glad to announce that it will also add and improve some features.

Here’s the list of highlights:

    * Support for WVGA video recording – The already great video recording will be enhanced to fit the wide screen format and hence resolution is also slightly increased to 864 * 480 pixles. (the preset size will still be VGA, user has to change to get WVGA)
    * Upload of pictures to Facebook – It will be possible to upload pictures directly from the picture menu you have on the home screen or from the Media UI.
    * Youtube video uploading – It will be possible to upload videos to Youtube directly from the Media UI.
    * Conversational messaging – “Conversations” will be nicely integrated in the messaging menu in order to easily find and inspire to more conversations with your friends.
    * DLNA support – The new software will support DLNA media server for easy transfer of audio and still pictures. (Note that video is not supported)
    * UI improvements – On top of above, several minor UI improvements have been done in order to optimize the user experience.
    * The Facebook application that is now available on PlayNow for free download will be included in the sw.

So in a few days time I think that at least many of you will be able to try this new update out. Please let us know how it turns out in the comments section.

Have a great weekend all!

First post here.... the new firmware is seriously fast... version R2AK006... the only problem is that it isn't hacked yet so HelloOX2 won't work and I lost my Ovi maps.  :-(

For those of you with GPS problems, it is nothing to do with unbranding or hacking the phone.... it was a common problem on the all the versions of the firmware up to the one before R2AK006.  The only solution in each case was to do either a a "Repair" from the SE PC Suite, or to re-install the firmware again - note that this obviously meant losing all settings and data so be sure to backup first.

The new firmware has added the higher resolution (WVGA) video camera setting which works nicely, but the main thing is the speed improvement is awesome.  The menu's fly, media player is fast and the whole phone is much more pleasant to use...  Pleas, please, please can someone just hack it now...... Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem, let me fully explain.
I hacked my phone with helloox2, then installed Nokia ovi maps. It worked great for 2 days. Then, the problem showed up. No connection in location app and it finds some satellites, even 3 with good signal, but don't get a fix. And it keeps on saying: GPS works poorly indoors and in enclosed areas, although I'm outside.
I've hard reseted my phone, re-updated and updated with R2K006 firmware, but nothing. And one more thing, I did the same to my dad's 5800, it worked first, but then the same problem showed up.

Version R2AK006 is quite fast as some others mentioned.... The UI is more stable and the whole phone is more stable, video experience is much bettter with WVGA and the best of all is the conversation messaging that is included in the messaging folder... Smiley the satio has been improved a loooot since it was released and for those of you who are planning to buy one, do it now! Cheesy
