I am crazy, but it also DOES send an SMS during first bootup after a hard reset. I can see the "sending SMS" icon during the bootup. After a short while, there's a message back from Nokia, saying "Welcome etc. etc.".
The SMS your phone sends is of course free of charge, but nevertheless annoying.

Great work adding a guide in the first post. Can you add guide regarding the structure of adding homescreens. Which file adds which home screen like 6 version and 8 icons version.

Well, My Nokia is not available in Romania, but the sms is still sent, and I do get charged for it as for a regular sms outside my operator's network.

Place all files into their corresponding folders in rofs2. Create those
folders that are missing.

Remember to uninstall Ovi Store from your phone before flashing.

installationDrive and autoLaunchApp seem to be interesting. anyone knows about this?

Using About.exe for Welcome2.exe works great. But is there a way to hide tel.-setup in application menu, since its not supposed to be used anymore...

You may also delete unnecessary T9 languages by deleting T9???.dll i.e. "T9German.dll"

Attention beginner cooks!
Below is a bunch of mods in a zip file, so you can easily drop them into the rofs yourself. You can add them one by one, or all at once. There's a readme with instructions inside.
Mods included:
-Move cache to E:
-Camera image quality & shuttersound.
-Disable unnecessary start of apps during bootup.
-Disable My Nokia and Welcome SMS.
-Hacking patchfiles (need only to install RomPatcher+ and then apply patches).
-New homescreens (Omnia HS, 6 icons HS, Navbar HS by Upakul).
-Changed splashscreens (Startup: Nokia Hacked 3 hands, Shutdown: Nokia logo yellow/black).
-New theme effect: SpinSlide v.40 by Mr G).

working on how to have preinstalled apps

at the moment i manage to have folders made in c:/ automatically

but getting the files transfered to c:/ is proving a problem

HOW TO DELETE LANGUAGES

I've successfully deleted unneeded languages in my phone.
Those languages don't appear on any selection lists anymore.
It didn't free up tons of memory (only a few MB), but a little
is better than nothing.

ADDING languages on the other hand is very tricky and the
easiest way to do it, is downloading a FW with your own
language pack and delete the unwanted languages from there.




SO:

First problem is finding out which language has which number.
The scandinavian language pack has the following:
01=English, 06=Swedish, 07=Danish, 08=Norwegian, 09=Finnish,
15=Icelandic.

Others can be viewed here:

Choose which languages to remove from your particular phone
and make a list of their numbers. Do NOT include English (01),
since it can't be removed.





Then: Off to work!


Edit languages.txt in \resource\Bootdata\
Remove the unneeded language numbers. Don't touch the contents
in any other way.


Do a search of your rofs folder. Search for files named *.Rnn
where nn stands for a language number you want to get rid of.
(if you want to get rid of language '99', then search for *.R99)
Delete all such files.
Repeat the search for all unwanted language numbers.

Inside these folders, there are other folders named with

Unneeded ones are usually safe to delete.

Other languages can be deleted.

Do not delete the file PtiQwertyEnglish.rsc.
The others may be deleted.

\resource\multitap\
Same applies to these rsc files; Do not delete English.



DONE! That should be it. Repack and flash.

Now, how to add language then?

Its just easier find a Firmware with your language, than adding a language to a totally different firmware. Find the Product code of the firmware that contains your language and download it from Navifirm.

Well, I placed the Data folder from within the zip into rofs2/sys/
Noticed that changing to landscape mode was slow as usual the first time, but was very fast after that.
What else does it do?
