Hey! Gonna start a new wallpaper section for Android devices but i need help with the wallpaper resolution that Android phones have! Please note that the android wallpapers are different from the actual screen resolution so it makes it kinda hard to find out what resolution i should use for the wallpapers. For those that are sure about the wallpaper sizes on different Android devices, please write them here! Thx

minimum resolution is 640 x 480, anything smaller will get stretched
i think the best resolution is 800x600

Okay, so this it how it works, all wallpapers on Androids use double their widths for nice transaction when switching between homescreens, so i'd suggest that you simply just take the biggest possible size that android phones have these days and let the phone downscale the image by itself. The biggest resolution as of now on android phones is currently (F)WVGA = 854x480 this is used in phones such as the Droid, the Droid X and Sonyericsson Xperia X10, so basiclly the most optimized resolution for these screens would actually be 854x960 pixel (hence the doubled width). so this would mean in practise that all phones with less resolution than (F)WVGA would actually downscale it and therefore make it the best possible resolution for androids these days

the ones using 960x800 is Nexus one, Desire, Droid Incredible, Acer Liquid, Samsung Galaxy S, and so forth. The ones using 960x854 is Droid X, Droid, Droid 2, Sonyericsson X10. I have certainly missed some of the phones but you get the picture

When you get a wallpaper which has bigger resolution than your display you yourself will be able to crop it so that it fits the screen, in my opinion. Making a 960x854 would be the best alternative, so that you with less resolution still will be able to resize it

Making a 960x854 would be the best alternative, so that you with less resolution still will be able to resize it Then just inform the users that they might have to crop them, and also the artists should keep the standard 960x800 in mind so the work will crop nicely into that res! But I agree, 960x854 seems to be the best!

I was more thinking about creating 3 wallpaper sections. For these resolutions: 960x800, 960x854 and 640x480
Can someone name the name of the phones that use the 960x800, 960x854 and 640x480 etc? thx
