Just new here! I think the new firmware would really take time.. looking at the previous firmware it looks like they have just dumped the features without full proofing it. Too many bugs, too many things to reconsider.

I guess the 5800 is really not ready during the time they have released it. Nokia was just pressured because many competitors are going "Touch Style". Releasing it late would degrade the tech specs. and marketability of their product. Technology changes quarterly the longest may be 6months. That's why the first release were buggy and some have faulty hardware.

Anyway more on the FW, I hope nokia would optimize their system in v21 and not a cheap update(like addtional langauge support). Removing any unwanted or buggy feature and maybe would go farther, to add a new flavor for the symbian OS this is what i want to see. I'm feeling good about this phone. So let's just wait and relax! And Let Nokia hear what we want so that they could do something about it.

Have you not been following the 5800's hardware saga? I think it's worth waiting until Nokia sorts out its quality control issues with its manufacturers.

Excuse me, I'm a 5800 user from December 2008 and I'm well aware of its capabilities and faults. And the only fault I've experienced was the speaker problem, which was repaired easily. Everything else is working just fine, including the firmware. I don't know what bugs in V20 is everyone complaining about, but so far I don't have any problems with the phone.

I dont have any problems really with it, I am sure that the iPhone has its fair share of problems. The only problem with the Nokia 5800 is the amount of applications available, which at the moment is not many.

Yeah, the scroll bar is pretty much useless when the document is longer than a couple of pages. Undecided

I have to agree with Ventsi, I have been using my 5800 since december, moved along 2 new firmware and never experienced a single problem with firmware (except from the speaker problem that is hardware related).
Only downside would be the picture/video quality, but with a bit of messing around of the setting I can take some pretty good pictures.

Hope to see Kinetic scrolling and can't wait for the OVI store to open.... April is almost over and May is around the corner....

I'm still waiting for v20!!!

I e-mailed Orange last week and got the following reply.....

Thank you for your mail regarding firmware for your handset.
Unfortunately we do not have a release date for the latest firmware version, however once it has been approved for use on Orange handsets it will be available to download from Nokia's website.
I trust this is of assistance.

Looks like a long wait then

I love my red tube but the problem is that it has certain bugs like:

1. the camera quality is poor at night.
2. its too slow
3. occasionally the icons on the homescreen shortcuts disappear.
4. there is usually a 'system error (-21)' thingy that appears.
5. after closing apps a message "
application closed:
PhoneTorch
E32USER-CBASE 66
appears.

Please help me and i hope this is solved in the update  Cry
