Hello you guys!

I really like developing themes, so now I tried to personalize these different icons. the thing is, how can I set an icon e.g. for fring if I don't see the icon for that in Carbide? Do I have to set it with an another programme or do I need somekind of an add-on for Carbide? Many thanks!

Try looking in the s60v5 forum, there is a thread about creating themes.

Use SisContents and see where is is "appname"_aif.mif (generaly on c:\sys\bin) and change Entry1's icon! Then replace file and done!

Yes PedroCst is rite, that is a way of changing the icon of 3rd party apps, the Mif contains the svg icon for every app, you'll need to unpack the app and it will have a .mif file which contains the svg icon. Note down the name, find a svg icon convert it to mif (smart sis can do all of this) and rename it to the applications .mif and repack the app. If you've hacked your phone than you can go rite to the replacing mif part as PedroCst mentioned but you'll find them in C:/resource/apps.

This method will perminatly change the icon of the app for every theme that does not have custom icons.

Using carbide;

GOHANASX is rite, to skin icons of 3rd party apps in a theme you require the Applications UID, the UID is basically like an applications unique serial with which carbide can assign a icon to it which you can skin.

To find out the UID of an application, make sure its installed in your phone does not matter if its internal memory or mass memory, Download this application;

You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login

Its called application UID number.

Once you've installed it, run it and in options hit "UIDs to file" this will create a text file that has the UID's of all the apps on your cell in the root of your phone memory, to access your phone memory you need a 3rd party file manager like y-browser..

The text file is called "applcations.txt" copy it to your computer. You can open it with notepad and you're find weird lines like:

101f4cce   Contacts   Z:\sys\bin\Phonebook2.exe
10207218   akncapserver   Z:\sys\bin\akncapserver.exe
10207277   Pbk2ServerApp   Z:\sys\bin\Pbk2ServerApp.exe
1000590a   Speed dial   Z:\sys\bin\Speeddial.exe

Yea it looks weird but the uid is the first set of numbers than its the name of the app and the last part is its place in your cell. System apps are usually in Z (your phones rom) and 3rd party apps you've installed are in C or E.

Scan through the file and find the app you want the UID of and copy the UID

Once you have the UID

Open Carbide > Window > Preferences > Third Party Icons

Hit New and Type a name for the application and in the Application UID field paste the UID of the app after the  0x  part, this is important, make sure you don't touch the  0x

Hit OK and now the application will appear in your Context Pane icons which you can skin
